i was given Tazo chai tea (by Smiley360). I always thought it was a funny name since chai(pronounce) = tea in Russian. I was surprised. the fragrance was wonderful, but it took a bit to get used to the taste because I'm used to fruity black teas. the vanilla caramel was an eye opener. almost felt like I was drinking some rich coffee. cant wait to try the other flavors.

I just needed a new project to work on. Today, all i could think of was sewing. At first I was going to make a bag, but lacked a few essential items. As I was flipping through In Stitches, I remembered that I has downloaded this pattern. I think it turned out cute. I aslo learned a few things... 1) drawing the seam allowence is really helpful 2) setting the machine on slow helps make lines straight and even. Does the face remind you of The Scream painting?? Its the wrong side of the back fabric.
meowmixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02639271863907102856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28012609.post-4039769282517560742007-08-30T21:38:00.001-05:002007-08-30T21:48:20.411-05:00I needed a punch

crafty sign front
Originally uploaded by genegrl1
to kickstart some creativity. I was tired of my knit sweater (still needs sleeves), beading had me in knots, crochet just wasnt doing it..... what was left but a simple sign. I had put this project on the backburner for quite awhile, while everything else ws going on. Then it all stopped. I didn't want to do anything. I even tried to sketch...nothing. Started by winding a few bobbons, then a spark. Plus, I got one of those wonderful daylight lamps (40% coupons rock!). It makes the project go by faster.
meowmixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02639271863907102856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28012609.post-54192811057728830372007-08-05T22:34:00.001-05:002007-08-05T22:34:45.311-05:00hello, kitty

kitty face
Originally uploaded by genegrl1
my cousin wanted a hat, well I finally got it done. And I found another use for swatches. Well I 've got plenty to show. First up, another baby blanket: One of my friends is having her second one and is being difficult by not finding out what she is having. But I was strolling around the Internet when I found this cute knit fish pattern. The blanket is not done yet but getting there.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifFIjw_Ln6Rdz_G9Mk_E39xLsXuBCzYGzf8T40Sy5jRfQWDAxbn02dBdunMpytT9VdGOU41h16rK3z1wXSsDnBWd7FjrsS2nFUA_RaSBeIRwAD1kPO7C1B-6VFAgseWc4L66j-/s200/DSC00005.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088639666732634418" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8o1ZgQXAB-4cHK2MkJkXnn1E3cVuqm-7L_eV4dqN_hCXyNErkwT8NdU7kw97u1aULOiimRTDTRpv6AY0zyMxNuKdUmhqvvoU-SwwZlHB3Gs3kHkymA0IZhfsasOtB1YrnWco5/s200/DSC00013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088639679617536322" />
I've also been working on my red sweater. I've also come to the conclusion that I am knitting the wrong pattern. I have fallen into the "it looks pretty on paper but not on me" problem. I have the right side along with the sleeves to finish but have lost the will to finish it. Maybe it will be a donation to charity. Good thing I didn't spend a whole lot of money on the yarn.

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPLhmIFZXXru1H73Kql2bOBq3iuor13O15iN1vCdqRGbnP6rZLS-GfStntWOq_ovF3VAMvLoxXPRHuoPiNBt6Cw44d6vdOpHkRe_yVU3V6YzrRj9nBoGk40xAVIR2LVrik2rkc/s200/DSC00006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5088640293797859666" />
I've been dabbling in beading as well. I made a necklace for a friend's birthday. I hope she like it. I also saw this cute little tree pendent thing around the Internet as well and tried to make one. Not bad for a first try. I messed it up about three times, I think. First I strung the beads on thread. Then the ends I bought needed wire. So, I took a few strands and strung them on wire. Then the cones didnt fit the wire. So I restrung them on thread. Then I cut the end very short. After a few suggestions, I came up with a plan, which somehow worked. Then finished up and Cleo was done. Its been going kind of fast. My goal is about 5 rows per night..which for my gauge is about an inch. So far I have about 6+ inches, with a few mistakes. I cant wait for it to be done.
meowmixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02639271863907102856noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28012609.post-14389815282992459682007-05-27T21:37:00.001-05:002007-05-27T21:40:26.413-05:00got wood?

wood 1&2
Originally uploaded by genegrl1
I felt that I needed to get some instant gratification. I ordered some wooden beads for a cardigan that I was working on. I think I need to retake basic math again. Once in a while you get something really cute. I wanted to try my hand at sewing a cosmetic bag. I found this tutorial online that seemed easy enough. Instead of printing it out or having it nearby to glance at, I went by the seat of my brain...not the greatest idea. Of course, let me remind you I cant sew or cut straight, never have I sewed in a zipper, or really have any common sense. So I went on about doing it. I made a template, all nice and straight. Cut it. Instead of that thing you put in, cant think of the name, i put in batting to give it a puffy feel. The pieces came out all different sizes. no problam, i'll think of something. It took a few tries to get the zipper right. Then I forgot the next step. Did I go and look for the answer, hell no. I made shit up. So in the end instead of a cosmetic bag, I got a jewelry case. I dont know, but I really like. Some days it pays to fuck up.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheIaJbsarjfGKCdDM58kCzZjrlTVLOnXxPi7Xy33BwXWCnnoWlF23VLgYQn2gsbQJFRuiE78ZhnnsiSZFiksPb5_5LJaEQEurfsfvOCTLaYcAM_yASWb1lYxdmtd-Feg0rAoac/s200/DSC01049.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5058254148948617186" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtn4aJ4iq8FiBWRnMfOP0HmbmSZrXv7syZIbftvS-_2UPtT6nVx-quHQQ4YdWXT3Bft2A-kWoE1Mn5U55HG44o0Iii2yN-RGUvuyPcw1YCxcHZZ0_9xOfNO6bcY5q-ScwvJINK/s200/DSC01050.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5058254148948617202" />meowmixhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02639271863907102856noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28012609.post-22811935114494592232007-04-23T22:24:00.000-05:002007-04-23T22:32:37.260-05:00Mail CallA while back I signed up for the Knitterly Letter Swap hosted by Domesticat. So, what have I been up to. My aunt's blanket has been going slow. I have had to adjust the pattern a bit, again. Details when its done. Last month I finally finished my first pair of real sock, heals and all. You can really tell that its my first pair... can you spot all the ladders?
<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvec4fRRciz9Jmu1hyphenhyphenk_pFw8CxRKgosR6iXxwIvo-9ibRKGT8A6ar4bEKqyEDVmKk2KPre1Q-ZAcwe0-QYEnY5QHwK07unwsB0JnAY6CfN7OqAQE0gBVR6QtX00LM-iCAgcrA2/s200/DSC01026.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5054224013792681666" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjv0QoKhKn38RjOxnDCYiaowQ51S2OFa-4rqxW2fZQvGvsR0-myrSzgz9fiLwQymGwZQt1nKvC4l4-5k-lAUHKO3PT6PXrYdcmBlnNUyaXfLTTiu31jQyo2w2d5jRVIi8JNcCSE/s200/DSC01025.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5054223846288957106" />

The project that I started a swatch for was a pattern for a cardigan I saw in Knit.1 . I did the swatch the EZ way. At first I thought that was an odd way to do a swatch, but I had a lot of fun making it. Way to go EZ! This cardigan has been driving me crazy, even though I haven't started on it. I have been trying to find the perfect yarn for it. I've looked all over the internet for a cheap way to do it. All the yarns I want would cost me around $60. I thought that it was a bit steep. I wouldn't even pay that much in a store. I was looking for very springy colors... greens, aqua, coral. But, I was walking around Hobby Lobbyland yesturday when I can across the perfect yarn. The name of the yarn " I love this yarn". It is cheap... $2 for over 300 yards. They were limited in colors, so I went with red. I got to thinking... since this is my FIRST sweater try, maybe some cheap yarn would be best to work with. I wont feel bad if I mess really bad. Plus, if it works well, I could always make another one with better quality yarn.
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhn2sZwsz12AAgdYHGsXLhwWimZcaSd2uVFElfyiIg27Yg_dhEixRoXLBIznIAZNj7iOAVLXYV3sa9-KAcZtIKhqXwRq8iuNGJrzVhH6dtrMNY2M5CHB0sP8xvkomFRhCIymo7I/s200/DSC01023.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5054224262900784850" />

I almost forgot, I got a sewing machine, a real one.
